Bayan: ‘Baha sa Luneta 2.0’ will proceed

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) believes that efforts to block the “Baha sa Luneta 2.0” anti-corruption rally were meant to derail their protest.

This comes after the Philippine National Police (PNP) barred them earlier this morning from pushing through with their activities, despite the protest being well-coordinated with the Manila local government unit and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In an interview with Brigada News FM Manila, Bayan Secretary General Mong Palatino said it was clear that the intent was to disrupt their mobilization.

He added that authorities may also want to prevent the public from joining the protest.

Despite this, Palatino stressed that the “Baha sa Luneta 2.0” rally will push through.

He said they intend to demonstrate the collective strength of the Filipino people despite obstructions, misinformation about the rally, and police attempts to hold them back.
