Accident in Makilala, North Cotabato: Fish truck loses brakes, fish and ice boxes scatter

A traffic accident occurred in Makilala, North Cotabato when a fish truck lost its brakes and surged forward, causing the destruction of ice boxes and spilling fish across the road. The incident took place along the roadside in Barangay Poblacion, around 11 AM on thursday, November 7, 2024.

According to witnesses, the driver of the fish truck, which was transporting fresh fish from Davao City, struggled to control the vehicle after the braking system failed. The truck suddenly surged forward and crashed into the roadside, resulting in the spill of ice boxes and fish that had yet to be properly stored.

Residents along the road witnessed the chaos, with fish scattered everywhere, quickly beginning to spoil under the heat. Witnesses reported a large amount of fish and ice boxes scattered across the area.

There is no information yet regarding whether anyone was injured in the accident, but the driver and witnesses immediately called for assistance from local authorities to assess the situation. The police and local disaster response teams (DRRM) quickly responded to help manage the scene and clean up the area.

The accident caused significant disruption in Makilala, and local authorities have begun investigating the cause of the truck’s brake failure.
