Sen. Padilla says constitutional loyalty is also ‘wanted’

Sen. Robin Padilla said loyalty to the Philippine Constitution is another thing being sought in the country, amid the controversy surrounding an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

In a pinned social media post, Padilla said Dela Rosa was not the only person considered “wanted,” adding that constitutional loyalty was also being sought.

The statement came after the Philippine National Police gave Dela Rosa a one-week ultimatum following the ICC warrant over his alleged criminal responsibility in the war on drugs during former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said authorities were also considering Dela Rosa “armed” and “dangerous.”

Authorities subsequently announced a ₱50 million reward for information that could lead to the senator, according to the report.

Padilla earlier urged the Supreme Court to promptly resolve pending petitions seeking clarification on the procedures for implementing arrest warrants and other orders issued by foreign tribunals in the Philippines.

His appeal concerns the legal framework governing the domestic enforcement of such orders.

Padilla’s latest statement connects the controversy involving Dela Rosa with questions about adherence to the Constitution and the implementation of foreign tribunal directives.

The allegations against Dela Rosa concern his alleged criminal responsibility in connection with the drug war under Duterte’s administration. The report provided no further details about Padilla’s specific constitutional concerns in his social media post.
