‘2 Valid IDs’ highlights struggles of wife seeking financial aid for sick husband

The film 2 Valid IDs, starring Pokwang, portrays the struggles of a financially struggling family in securing the documents needed to access money for medical treatment.

Pokwang plays Sylvia, a farmer who travels to Manila with her husband, Ramon, who needs surgery due to a lung condition.

When Sylvia receives financial assistance from a relative in New Zealand, she hopes to use the money to pay for her husband’s medical treatment.

However, she is unable to claim the funds because she lacks the two valid identification cards required for the transaction.

As a result, Sylvia is forced to visit various government offices, endure long queues, and comply with multiple requirements to obtain the necessary documents.

The film highlights how what may seem like a simple process of securing identification can become a major obstacle for people living in poverty, particularly when access to medical care for a loved one is at stake.

The film also features Joey Marquez, Zaijian Jaranilla, and Meryll Soriano.

2 Valid IDs premiered at the 2026 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival before opening in cinemas nationwide on October 14, 2026.
