Dennis Trillo speaks up amid Jennylyn-Patrick controversy: ‘I’ll protect them at all cost’

Dennis Trillo stood by his wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado, amid the renewed controversy involving statements made by Patrick Garcia.

The Kapuso actor was approached by entertainment reporters after receiving recognition at the Golden Screen Awards: Dekada Awards 2026, held Sunday night, October 4, at the MMFF Auditorium of the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City.

Trillo was honored for his performances in the films “Felix Manalo” (2015) and “Green Bones” (2024).

During the interview, Trillo was asked about his family’s reaction to Patrick’s recent statements.

The actor said they were surprised, especially since more than 20 years had passed and the issue had seemingly been put behind them.

He noted that everyone had already moved on and that they did not want to reopen old conflicts.

Jennylyn’s camp, through Aguila Entertainment, previously released a statement saying the actress would not be commenting on the issue.

Instead, Trillo spoke up in defense of his wife and family.

According to the actor, as the head of the family, he feels responsible for protecting them.

He stressed that his family remains his top priority and that he will do everything he can to protect them “at all cost.”

As for how they are dealing with the controversy, Trillo said they simply have to remain strong and face the situation with courage.

He also shared his advice to Jennylyn—to continue being happy despite the problems and challenges they may encounter in life.
