The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has reminded employers in the National Capital Region to observe proper pay rules for the special non-working days from November 16 to 18.
Malacañang declared the holidays in connection with the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
Under Labor Advisory No. 16, the “no work, no pay” policy generally applies to employees who do not report for work, unless otherwise provided under company policy, practice, or a collective bargaining agreement.
Employees who report for work will receive an additional 30 percent of their basic wage for the first eight hours, while overtime work will carry an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate.
If the special non-working day falls on an employee’s rest day, the employee will receive an additional 50 percent of the basic wage for the first eight hours, plus an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate for overtime work.
DOLE also reminded employers that the pay rules cover workers under alternative, flexible, and telecommuting work arrangements, without affecting their other existing benefits.
