A reported shooting at Isulan National High School on the morning of Sept. 30 was denied by Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu, who said the loud sound that sparked reports was likely caused by faulty electrical wiring.
The incident gained attention on social media, prompting authorities to clarify what happened and urge the public to rely on verified information.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mangudadatu cited the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office, which said there was no shooting incident at the school.
According to the governor, the reported loud sound was not caused by a firearm and was likely due to an electrical wiring problem.
Authorities also found no ammunition in the area during their investigation, according to the statement.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is conducting an assessment of the possible electrical wiring issue.
Mangudadatu said there were no reported casualties or injuries connected to the incident.
Safety protocols were immediately implemented at the school, while the Municipal Government of Isulan, together with peace and security authorities, secured and maintained the area as the assessment continued.
The governor urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading information that has not been verified by authorities.
He also assured parents and the public that the situation was under control.
The incident began circulating on social media as a possible shooting, but the initial assessment cited by the governor did not support that report.
Authorities are continuing their assessment of the possible electrical wiring problem to determine the cause of the loud sound.
Mangudadatu reiterated that the safety and well-being of students, teachers and school personnel remain a priority.
As of the governor’s statement, there were no reported injuries or casualties, and no ammunition was found at the scene.
