House Prosecutor Terry Ridon has received a stern warning from the Senate Impeachment Court after he was found to have violated the sub judice rule during the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ridon confirmed that he received the court’s decision on his response to the show cause order issued over the alleged violation.
In an interview, Ridon said Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero gave him a “stern warning.”
Ridon expressed gratitude for the impeachment court’s consideration and assured that he would be more careful when discussing details related to the proceedings.
However, Ridon clarified that the action taken by the court should not be considered an “admonishment.”
Despite the warning, Ridon said he would continue his work as a member of the prosecution team, including presenting evidence and calling witnesses during the impeachment proceedings.
He also said he would continue explaining the proceedings to the public in a way they could understand.
Meanwhile, Ridon maintained that he would continue using “figures of speech” when discussing the proceedings because, according to him, these do not refer to the merits of the impeachment case.
The Senate Impeachment Court issued the warning after considering Ridon’s response to the show cause order concerning the alleged sub judice violation.
