A large majority of Americans believe the conflict between the United States and Iran is far from over.
A new poll shows 82 percent of respondents expect the fighting to continue for an extended period, including nine in 10 Democrats and three in four Republicans.
Only 34 percent, meanwhile, approved of the U.S. strikes against Iran.
The conflict is also taking a toll on Americans’ wallets, with rising gasoline and diesel prices adding to inflation concerns.
The poll further showed that 51 percent of Republicans disapproved of President Donald Trump’s handling of the cost of living, while 44 percent approved.
Trump’s overall approval rating also slipped to 32 percent, down from 35 percent a week earlier, while his approval among Republicans remained at 73 percent.
The survey covered 1,277 adults across the United States.
