The Philippine Embassy in Bogotá confirmed that no Filipinos were reported injured or killed following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia.
In an interview, Philippine Embassy in Colombia Chargé d’Affaires Consul Judy Razon said they immediately coordinated with the Filipino community in the area to ensure their safety.
The embassy also checked on Filipinos living in neighboring countries such as Venezuela and Ecuador, where the tremors were also felt.
Meanwhile, Colombia was placed under a state of emergency following the powerful earthquake, which caused widespread damage and reportedly killed more than 100 people.
The Philippine Embassy urged Filipinos in Colombia to remain in safe areas and continue monitoring advisories from local authorities.
