Online seller shot in head in Cebu City; Suspected hitman arrested

A 38-year-old female online seller was shot in the head and killed in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City, shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, police said.

The victim was identified as alias Eve.

According to Police Major Noah L. Añana, officer-in-charge of Police Station 6, the victim was lying down when the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jun, entered and allegedly shot her in the head.

The suspect immediately fled the area after the shooting.

Bystanders and residents, however, helped police catch the suspect shortly after the incident.

The suspect was reportedly beaten by some residents before police took custody of him.

The victim’s husband and child immediately brought her to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead after efforts to save her.

Añana told Brigada News FM Cebu that the suspect was known as a hitman and also had a record related to illegal drugs.

Police have not established the motive for the killing.

An investigation remains underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible motive behind the attack.

The incident took place in Sitio Lawis, where the suspect was arrested after residents and bystanders helped authorities capture him.

Police continue to investigate the case, while the claims regarding the suspect’s alleged background are being cited by authorities as part of the information gathered during the investigation.
