An Indian national was shot and killed by alleged riding-in-tandem gunmen in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, on the night of Aug. 4, prompting police to form a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG).
The victim was identified only by the alias “Aks.”
Police Maj. Marc Joeil Reclamado, commander of Police Station 4, said a witness reported that two suspects riding a motorcycle shot the victim at about 9 p.m.
Authorities said none of the victim’s personal belongings were missing from the scene.
According to the victim’s relatives, he had been living in the area for only a few months and had recently begun helping with the family’s lending business.
Investigators said they plan to examine the victim’s mobile phone for information that could help determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Police are also looking into possible leads that may assist in identifying the suspects and establishing a motive.
Bacolod City Police Office Director Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia said a Special Investigation Task Group has already been organized to handle the case.
The task group is conducting a backtracking operation using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area in an effort to identify the motorcycle-riding suspects and trace their movements before and after the shooting.
Authorities have not yet announced a possible motive for the attack.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage.
No arrests have been reported as of Tuesday, and authorities urged anyone with information related to the shooting to coordinate with investigators as the search for the suspects continues.
