The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested two siblings during a buy-bust operation targeting alleged drug traffickers in Cotabato City Monday morning.
Operatives from the PDEA BARMM Regional Special Enforcement Team conducted the operation around 10:30 a.m. in Rajah Tabunaway, Poblacion 6. Authorities identified the suspects through their aliases Lalang and Tam-Tax, residents of Bagua 2 and Barangay Limbo in Sultan Kudarat. PDEA BARMM Regional Investigator Attorney Eugene Daniel Morcilla said investigators monitored the suspects for several weeks with assistance from concerned citizens.
Authorities confiscated approximately half a kilogram of suspected shabu with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of three million four hundred thousand pesos. Operatives also recovered non-drug evidence and retrieved five hundred thousand pesos in boodle money used during the buy-bust operation.
A barangay official from Poblacion 6 thanked PDEA BARMM personnel for successfully conducting the operation and helping protect communities from illegal drugs. Meanwhile, suspect Tam-Tax claimed he had no knowledge about the contents of the bag he allegedly agreed to deliver. PDEA said authorities will complete evidence disposition procedures and pursue appropriate charges against the suspects under the country’s dangerous drugs law.
