A newly graduated man was shot outside Kolehiyo ng Pantukan in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, shortly after attending graduation ceremonies on the morning of June 25, authorities said.
The victim, a 30-year-old man from Barangay Pindasan in the neighboring town of Mabini, had just completed the graduation rites for his Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics.
According to the Pantukan Municipal Police Station, the shooting happened after the victim had left the school campus. He sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
As of posting time, the hospital had not released a medical bulletin regarding the victim’s condition.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pantukan said the shooting occurred at around 12:25 p.m. outside the premises of Kolehiyo ng Pantukan and did not take place within the campus grounds.
In an official statement, the LGU said it is coordinating with law enforcement authorities and other concerned agencies to support the ongoing investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law.
The municipal government also said it is extending the necessary assistance and support to the victim and his family.
The LGU urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while authorities continue their investigation. It also assured residents that the safety of students and the community remains a priority.
Police have yet to identify the suspect or determine the motive behind the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional verified information will be released as it becomes available.
