The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) has reminded the public to exercise caution when sharing content involving minors, particularly in incidents of violence.
According to the CWC, children should not be labeled as “shooters,” “killers,” or “victims” without recognizing and respecting their rights.
The council also urged netizens not to share photos, videos, or personal information of minors involved in such incidents.
Images and videos from the incident, screenshots, social media accounts, group chats, and other identifying information that have not been properly blurred or concealed should not be circulated online, the agency said.
The CWC stressed that even if information is already spreading online, reposting or reporting it may further expose children to stigma, harassment, and other harmful consequences.
The council also encouraged the public to report any posts, videos, or content that violate child protection standards to the appropriate authorities.
The agency emphasized that not all verified information should automatically be made public, especially when doing so could compromise the rights, privacy, and welfare of children.
