The Board of Trustees of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has approved the recommendation of its Board of Managing Directors to temporarily bar all Ateneo de Manila University coaching staff members involved in the Aurora incident on June 8 from participating in league activities.
The decision comes amid the ongoing investigation into the incident that resulted in the deaths of two student-athletes.
In a statement, the UAAP said the measure is intended to preserve the integrity of the investigation and ensure full transparency and due process throughout the proceedings.
Meanwhile, the association has set July 15, 2026, as the deadline for Ateneo de Manila University to submit its official findings on the incident.
According to the UAAP, it remains committed to following its established rules and procedures, under which the actions of a member university and the individuals involved are subject to thorough review by the league’s other member schools.
The association emphasized that accountability must be determined through the results of a comprehensive and impartial investigation.
The UAAP also extended its condolences once again to the families of the deceased student-athletes and called for justice in connection with the tragedy.
