Japan team reports progress in response to Navotas landfill fire

The Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Expert Team has completed its assessment of the large-scale fire at the Navotas Sanitary Landfill.

In a statement, the team said it has made “meaningful progress” in addressing the incident and acknowledged the country’s ongoing response efforts.

According to the group, their assessment has already been finalized and submitted to Philippine authorities.

The JDR Expert Team recently arrived in the country to provide assistance and technical support in managing the landfill fire.

Japan also participated in a joint inspection of the site alongside the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
