Father stabs wife and son to death in Bukidnon

A 54-year-old woman and her 34-year-old son died following a stabbing incident allegedly carried out by the family patriarch on the evening of Jan. 12, 2026, in Barangay Kiraon, Damulog, Bukidnon, police said.

According to the Damulog Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8 p.m. inside the family’s residence. Initial investigation showed that the suspect and his son were both under the influence of alcohol and engaged in a heated argument.

Police said the confrontation escalated when the son allegedly punched his father. In response, the suspect reportedly grabbed a knife from a table inside the house and stabbed his son in the abdomen.

Authorities said the victim’s mother attempted to intervene and separate the two, but she was also stabbed by her husband during the altercation.

Both victims were rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital for medical treatment. The woman was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians. The son, who was initially listed in critical condition, died several hours later while undergoing treatment.

Police confirmed that the suspect was turned over to authorities by a barangay kagawad and the barangay chief tanod shortly after the incident. He is currently detained at the Damulog Municipal Police Station.

Investigators said the suspect may face charges of double parricide following the deaths of his wife and son. Further investigation is ongoing as police complete documentation and prepare the filing of formal charges.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims and suspect pending case proceedings.
