Armed man opens fire on police in Cebu; two wounded  

Two people were injured during a shootout between police officers and an armed suspect around 8:50 p.m. on Monday, July 21, in Barangay Tayud, Liloan, Cebu.

According to the Liloan Municipal Police Station, they received a report around 8:30 p.m. from the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN) regarding an armed individual seen in Sitio Tabay.

Police, accompanied by BIN members wearing bulletproof vests, immediately responded to the scene.

As they approached the house of the suspect, known only as Alias Sammy, he reportedly opened fire on the approaching team without warning.

One BIN personnel was shot in the left arm during the exchange. Police quickly retaliated and were able to neutralize the suspect, who was armed with a KG-9 9mm firearm.

Both the wounded BIN member and the suspect were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine further details surrounding the encounter.
