Cebu city worker dies after being hit by falling pipe

A construction worker died after being struck by a falling galvanized iron pipe at a condominium project in Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City, around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10.

The victim was identified as Julito, a 26-year-old mason from Barangay Biga, Toledo City.

Based on the initial police investigation and the report from the building’s safety officer, Julito was working on the eighth floor when a pipe fell from the 22nd floor of the structure and hit him.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was later declared dead.

On Wednesday, the Office of the Building Official (OBO) issued a suspension order on the construction project’s operations following the fatal incident.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing to determine possible safety lapses and further responsibilities.
