15-year-old ‘gun-for-hire’ rescued in Cebu police operation

Police rescued a 15-year-old boy accused of being a gun-for-hire during a manhunt operation in Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu, around 7 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025.

The minor, a resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, is one of two suspects linked to the shooting of 44-year-old Madeline Cabahug in the same barangay early Sunday morning.

Mambaling Police Station Chief, Police Major Michael John M. Arandia, led the operation to track down the suspect, who allegedly fled to Dalaguete. Authorities successfully located and apprehended the minor.

Reports indicate the 15-year-old had been involved in other crimes in the Mambaling area last year. Police recovered a .45 caliber firearm from him, which may have been used in the attack.

Law enforcement continues its search for the boy’s alleged accomplice.
