5 reportedly dead after police car plunges into ravine in Misamis Occidental

Five people were killed after a Philippine National Police patrol vehicle plunged into a ravine in Don Victoriano, Misamis Occidental, at about 12:20 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2026, authorities said.

Police said the vehicle belonged to the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and was traveling from Lake Duminagat toward Peduan Falls when the crash happened. According to PCPT. Al-Rafat Sapie, chief of the Don Victoriano Municipal Police Station, the patrol car lost control upon reaching a sloping section of the road, causing it to fall into a ravine.

Initial reports said seven people were on board the vehicle at the time of the accident. Among them were members of the Philippine National Police and personnel from the Provincial Tourism Office who were escorting organizers of the Binibining Pilipinas event.

Authorities confirmed that four police officers and one tourism office employee showed no signs of life. The victims were declared dead on arrival at a hospital. Two other occupants survived the crash, according to initial information.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of their families.

Police said an investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officials are also reviewing road conditions and other factors that may have contributed to the incident.
