2 men killed, 2 women injured in Cotabato City ambush

Two men were killed while two women were injured in an ambush early Saturday in Barangay Rosary Heights 11, Cotabato City, police said.

The attack occurred at about 2:56 a.m. on Udtog Matalam Street, according to the initial report from the Cotabato City Police Office Station 2.

Police identified the fatalities as Ibrahim Miya, 40, a resident of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, and Aldren Karisio Keda, 40, of MB Tamontaka, Cotabato City.

The two injured victims, identified only by the aliases “Johaira” and “Leisith,” sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. They were taken to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, where they were receiving treatment.

Barangay Rosary Heights 11 Councilor Roemeo Collado said the victims had attended a wake in the area before the shooting.

According to Collado, the two men were about to board a scooter when unidentified suspects, who were allegedly waiting nearby, opened fire.

The two male victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds to different parts of their bodies, resulting in their immediate deaths at the scene.

Police have not released information on the identities of the suspects or a possible motive for the attack.

Authorities continue to investigate the ambush and gather evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
