An 11-year-old child died while a 16-year-old sibling suffered injuries after their uncle allegedly attacked them in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental yesterday afternoon.
The tragic incident happened in Sitio Habay-Habay, Barangay Candabong, at around 2:30 p.m. on July 19 during a family gathering at their grandparent’s house.
Police said the family was preparing for the gathering when the 28-year-old suspect suddenly attacked the two minors using a knife without warning.
Other family members immediately fled the area and managed to escape before the suspect could inflict further harm during the violent attack.

The 16-year-old sibling remains under medical treatment after sustaining multiple injuries and continues to receive care from attending healthcare professionals at the hospital.
Responding police officers later proceeded to the suspect’s residence, where they discovered the 28-year-old man already dead upon their arrival at the scene.
Based on the initial investigation, authorities believe the suspect died by suicide shortly after carrying out the fatal attack against his young relatives.
