10 Dawlah Islamiya–Maute members killed in Lanao clash

Government forces neutralized 10 members of the Dawlah Islamiya–Maute Group (DI-MG) during a focused law enforcement support operation in Lanao del Sur on April 17, 2026.

The operation was carried out by troops from the 103rd Infantry (HARIBON) Brigade under the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division of the Philippine Army, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOT), and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) authorities.

Military officials said the operation targeted key members of the DI-MG, including a senior leader. Authorities linked the group to several violent incidents, including the Jan. 23, 2026 ambush in Munai, Lanao del Norte that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers and left another wounded.

No casualties were reported among government forces during the operation.

Troops recovered several firearms, an explosive device, and components used in improvised explosive devices from the encounter site. An infant found during the operation was safely rescued and immediately provided medical attention by responding personnel.

Military officials said the operation demonstrated coordinated efforts among military, police, and intelligence units to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region.

The 103rd Infantry Brigade said it will continue intensified operations alongside partner agencies to ensure the safety of communities and prevent the resurgence of extremist groups.
