A raging fire engulfed a residence on Amado Papa Street, Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City, on Thursday morning, leaving an estimated ₱3 million worth of property in ashes. The fire broke out at 10:56 a.m., rapidly consuming the home owned by government employee Engr. Danilo Ong, according to a report from Police Station 2.
Arson investigators revealed that the house, made predominantly of light materials, fueled the rapid spread of the flames. While the exact cause remains undetermined, authorities have not ruled out foul play. “The materials gave the fire a head start,” said an investigator, noting how the inferno’s intensity raised suspicions.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to nearby structures. However, the damage was significant. Officials are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause and finalize the total cost of losses.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerability of houses constructed from combustible materials. Residents are urged to take preventive measures to ensure safety in fire-prone areas.
