The Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers continued their strong campaign in the NCAA Season 102 after defeating the Mapua University Cardinals, 71-58, on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
JRU delivered a strong offensive performance in the fourth quarter, limiting Mapua to just two field goals to seal the 13-point victory.
The game was tied at 50-all heading into the final period before Lawrence Mangubat led the Heavy Bombers’ scoring run to pull away.
The victory improved JRU’s Group A record to 9-3, clinching a quarterfinal berth alongside San Beda and Benilde.
Meanwhile, Mapua dropped to 6-6 and will face Lyceum in the play-in round.
