Government agencies are on alert for an increase in travelers during Undas, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said in a video message outlining measures to keep passengers safe and maintain order.
Marcos said repairs on major roads have been completed to reduce travel delays.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has issued more than 1,000 special permits for additional buses. The Maritime Industry Authority will implement a relaxation order and issue special permits through Nov. 3, allowing passenger vessels to adjust schedules and add trips on some routes.
For air travelers, the Bureau of Immigration has been directed to ensure adequate staffing and keep immigration counters open from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3. It will also increase e-gate use and set up round-the-clock help desks at major terminals.
In Metro Manila, more than 2,000 Metropolitan Manila Development Authority personnel will manage traffic, particularly around cemeteries.
Police will be deployed at cemeteries and columbaria. The Bureau of Fire Protection and health emergency teams will remain on standby.
Marcos urged travelers to arrive at terminals early, buy tickets in advance and use online ticketing when available. He called on the public to follow rules and cooperate with authorities during the observance period.
