Filipino stand-up comedian and actor Arnell Tamayo has died at the age of 61 on Wednesday, October 14.
His passing was confirmed in a statement posted on his Facebook page, which remembered him for his distinctive personality and ability to bring joy and laughter to many people.
Aside from his stand-up comedy performances, Tamayo was also known for his acting stints in the television sitcom “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!” and the film “Maria Leonora Teresa.”
Meanwhile, his camp has urged the public to temporarily refrain from sending financial assistance to any individual or account claiming to represent Tamayo until the authorized recipient and arrangements are officially announced.
The statement said the request aims to ensure that any assistance intended for the late entertainer, his affairs, or his family reaches the people legitimately authorized to receive it.
The cause of his death has yet to be disclosed.
However, his previous Facebook posts showed that he had been confined at the Lung Center of the Philippines, undergone medical tests and a biopsy in July, and appealed for blood donors in September.
