From a second chance at love to a promise of forever—actress-politician Aiko Melendez and actor Onemig Bondoc are officially engaged after rekindling their romance nearly three decades after they first fell in love.
Onemig shared the emotional proposal on his YouTube channel, where he asked Aiko to marry him at the grave of her late father, Jaime Rafael Melendez.
In the video, Onemig delivered a heartfelt message before asking Aiko for her answer.
After Aiko asked if he was serious, she eventually said “yes.”
Onemig revealed that before proposing, he first sought the blessing of Aiko’s mother and her children.
He then visited her father’s grave, where he expressed his intention to marry Aiko.
Aiko and Onemig first dated in the 1990s before going their separate ways and living their own lives for nearly three decades.
The two reconnected in 2025.
On January 10, 2026, they confirmed that they were in the courting stage.
A month later, on February 15, they officially announced that they were already a couple through a YouTube vlog filmed in Zambales.
“It’s official. Yes, kami na po,” Aiko said, while Onemig confirmed, “We are officially together.”
Aiko later reflected on their love story in a post, writing, “Some love stories begin with once upon a time. Ours began 29 years ago, took a very long detour, and somehow found its way back. And now, after all these years, I get to marry the one I waited for.”
The couple has yet to announce details about their wedding date.
