President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. laughed and shook his head when asked about Vice President Sara Duterte’s claim that the administration was trying to block the 2028 presidential elections.
Marcos was asked for his reaction during an activity in Pasay City. Instead of answering, he laughed and shook his head.
Duterte issued a statement Saturday accusing the Marcos administration of becoming increasingly “desperate.” She claimed the administration was taking steps to weaken her politically, push for Charter change and ultimately prevent the next national election.
Her statement followed allegations from Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., who identified himself as a former security aide of former Speaker Lord Allan Velasco. Gracioso alleged that he delivered suitcases containing money to Duterte on Velasco’s instructions.
Duterte strongly denied the allegation and called it a “media stunt.” She also said she did not know Gracioso and denied receiving money from him.
The allegations came as Duterte raised concerns about efforts that she said were intended to weaken her politically and affect the 2028 elections.
The issue has added to tensions between Duterte and the Marcos administration, with the vice president continuing to deny the allegations made against her.
