One dead after car collides with oil tanker in Sibulan, Negros Oriental

One person died after a car collided with an oil tanker in Barangay Looc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, on the evening of Sept. 12.

The car was severely damaged in the collision, with its body crushed by the impact.

In an interview with Brigada News Dumaguete, Police Major Antonio De Leon Jr., officer-in-charge of the Sibulan Municipal Police Station, said the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the crash occurred.

According to the police, the car allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the approaching oil tanker.

The incident was captured by a dashcam.

Three people riding in the car, including the driver, were immediately taken to a hospital. However, a female passenger was declared dead on arrival.

The car’s driver and another passenger remain hospitalized and are recovering from their injuries.

Meanwhile, the oil tanker driver has been released from detention after the reglementary period.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

Authorities continue to look into the incident, including the reported lane crossing and the events that led to the fatal crash.
