A female active-duty Bureau of Fire Protection personnel was arrested during an entrapment operation over an alleged slot-selling scheme.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group conducted the operation in San Fernando City, Pampanga, after receiving a complaint from an applicant.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly demanded 500,000 pesos from the applicant in exchange for a guaranteed position within BFP service.
Investigators said the suspect used a dummy Facebook account to contact applicants who posted their names on BFP’s Facebook page.
She allegedly contacted applicants individually and began transactions whenever someone responded to her messages through the dummy online account.
The CIDG conducted intelligence operations on August 23 and arranged a meeting between the complainant and suspect in Pasay City.
During that meeting, the suspect allegedly showed her BFP identification card, helping investigators confirm her identity before the planned operation.
Authorities conducted the entrapment operation the following day in San Fernando City, Pampanga, using 300,000 pesos as marked money.
The complainant could not immediately provide the full amount, prompting both parties to agree on a 300,000-peso initial cash payment.
According to the CIDG, the suspect admitted that the transaction marked her fifth alleged operation since she began last year.
Investigators are also examining her claim involving a senior fire commission officer who may have participated in the alleged scheme.
The CIDG continues investigating other possible victims while reminding applicants never to pay anyone promising guaranteed government employment opportunities.
