Around 42,000 residents have been evacuated after the fast-moving Hawk Fire spread across Reno, Nevada, in the United States, while another 45,000 people have been advised to prepare for possible evacuation.
Authorities said the wildfire had burned approximately 15,040 acres, or more than 6,000 hectares, just one day after it started, fueled by strong winds.
Several homes in the mountainous areas have already been destroyed, while six people, including three first responders, were reported injured.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency in Washoe County, where Reno is located.
Fire officials warned that the blaze was rapidly advancing toward residential areas and urged residents to evacuate immediately once ordered to do so.
