Toni Gonzaga opened up about one of the most difficult chapters of her career, recalling the intense backlash she received over her political endorsement during the 2022 elections.
Speaking with Gary Valenciano on his podcast “Unshaken,” Gonzaga shared how the experience deeply affected her and changed the way she viewed other people.
The actress admitted that there was a time when she thought the harsh criticism would make her more guarded and less kind toward others. However, she said the experience instead taught her to become more compassionate, gentle, and understanding.
Gonzaga explained that being on the receiving end of harsh judgment made her realize how painful it can be to be criticized, prompting her to become less judgmental toward others.
She also revealed that the backlash became so overwhelming that she once thought her two-decade career in showbiz could already be coming to an end.
Despite the difficult period, Gonzaga said the support of her family and the people who continued to stand by her gave her the strength to move forward.
Now, she looks back on the experience as a difficult but meaningful chapter that helped shape her perspective and character.
