The Philippine National Police (PNP) remains on track in its efforts to locate Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
Remulla said the PNP, together with other government agencies, continues to pursue the senator following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The Interior chief declined to disclose operational details, saying doing so could affect the ongoing efforts to locate Dela Rosa.
According to Remulla, authorities acknowledge that tracking Dela Rosa has been challenging because of his familiarity with law enforcement procedures. He also cited former Bureau of Corrections chief Gerald Bantag as another individual who is difficult to locate for the same reason.
Because of these challenges, Remulla said authorities have adopted various strategies instead of relying solely on traditional law enforcement methods in their search for wanted individuals.
He added that authorities remain committed to pursuing people who are evading the law, whether they are inside or outside the Philippines.
Dela Rosa was last publicly seen in the early hours of May 14 when he left the Senate with Senator Robin Padilla after attending a session.
The senator is being sought in connection with an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
Remulla did not provide a timetable for the operation or disclose the specific measures being used to locate Dela Rosa.
The PNP has not announced any new developments regarding the senator’s whereabouts.
Government authorities continue their efforts while withholding operational information that they say could compromise the ongoing search.
Officials maintain that the operation remains active and that law enforcement agencies will continue coordinating in the effort to locate individuals wanted by authorities.
