A 17-year-old Grade 9 student was found in possession of suspected shabu valued at approximately ₱204,000 during a security inspection at a high school in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, on July 20.
According to Police Lt. Benjo Ballo-Allo, officer-in-charge of Police Station 3, the inspection was prompted after two students approached a school security guard and reported that the minor was allegedly carrying a firearm inside his bag.
Acting on the report, the security guard immediately inspected the student’s bag.
Instead of a firearm, the guard recovered two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing an estimated 30 grams.
The incident was immediately reported to the police for further investigation.
Authorities estimated the seized suspected illegal drugs to have a standard drug price of ₱204,000.
During the investigation, the student denied any knowledge of the suspected shabu and said he did not know the two students who reported him to the security guard.
Police said they are continuing their investigation to determine whether the suspected illegal drugs were intentionally placed inside the student’s bag.
Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the identities of the two students who made the initial report.
No firearm was recovered during the inspection.
The police have yet to determine the origin of the suspected illegal drugs and whether other individuals may have been involved in the incident.
The suspected shabu will undergo the necessary examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The minor has been placed under the custody of the Social Development Center while authorities continue to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
