A room attendant discovered a lifeless fetus inside a wash basin in the restroom of an inn along J. Catolico Avenue, General Santos City, shortly after 6:00 a.m. on Thursday.

The employee immediately reported the incident to authorities, who responded to the scene to secure the area and begin an initial investigation into the discovery.

Police Major Junel Rey Gatera, chief of Police Station 6, estimated that the fetus was around seven to eight months old.

Major Gatera also confirmed that CCTV footage showed a pregnant woman entering the inn with a companion before checking into one of the rooms.

Initial police investigation suggests that the woman may not be a resident of General Santos City and was possibly only visiting the area.

Investigators are now reviewing additional CCTV recordings and gathering other pieces of evidence to identify the woman and her companion.

Police continue coordinating with the management of the inn to obtain relevant information that could help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
