Death toll from habagat and Bagyong Inday rises to 26

The number of reported fatalities caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Inday has climbed to 26, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The agency said the deaths were primarily caused by drowning and landslides.

Of the fatalities, one was reported in Iloilo; two each in Zamboanga and Bukidnon; four in Davao Occidental; seven in Lanao del Sur; and ten in Sarangani.

Meanwhile, nine people were reported injured due to landslides.

The injured include one each from Marinduque, Davao Occidental, and Sarangani, and two each from Benguet, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte.

The OCD also reported that 14 people remain missing, including one from Maguindanao del Sur, two each from Zamboanga del Sur and Sarangani, four from Lanao del Sur, and five from Davao Occidental.

The agency said validation of the reported casualties is still ongoing.
