A man was found dead inside a septic tank in Matina Gravahan, Barangay 74-A, Davao City, around 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, authorities said.
Investigators discovered the victim with his hands handcuffed and his feet tied. His head was also covered with a towel and wrapped with tape.
According to the Davao City Police Office, the killing did not happen in the area where the body was recovered. Police said the victim was allegedly killed elsewhere before being transported and placed inside the septic tank. The crime reportedly occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sta. Ana Police Station.
Authorities have requested the assistance of the Scene of the Crime Operatives to conduct an autopsy and determine the exact cause of death.
DCPO spokesperson Pcapt. Hazel Caballero said police have already identified the victim and also traced a suspect through information provided by a concerned citizen.
However, authorities have not yet released the identities of the victim and suspect to avoid affecting the ongoing investigation.
Caballero added that police are still waiting for the cooperation of the victim’s family to strengthen the murder case set to be filed in court.
Police are preparing to file a murder case against the suspect as the investigation continues.
