Jonvic Remulla, Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), confirmed that two Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons in Makati City have been suspended due to alleged misconduct.
Remulla identified them as Natalia Georgianna M. Tupaz and Cecilia Louise P. Yabut.
Tupaz has been suspended for six months after allegedly demanding a 20% kickback from a supplier for a Halloween project. She is also accused of submitting an SK resolution with a forged signature of the SK secretary.
Reports said Tupaz has already submitted her resignation on March 8, 2026.
Meanwhile, Yabut has been suspended for three months after submitting documents with forged signatures. She admitted that the documents were not “personally signed.”
According to Remulla, Tupaz may face charges before the Office of the Ombudsman for direct bribery, violation of Republic Act No. 3019, and falsification of public documents. Yabut and her treasurer may also face falsification charges.
In the end, Remulla reiterated his recommendation to abolish the SK, saying that corruption appears to be becoming ingrained at a young age.
