5.1 earthquake jolts Sipalay City in Negros Occidental

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck Sipalay City in Negros Occidental at 8:04 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) initially reported the quake as a 4.9 magnitude but later upgraded it to 5.1.

Kabankalan Catholic College (KCC) in Kabankalan City suspended its morning classes to allow the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team to conduct an inspection. The school plans to resume classes after the assessment.

In Toboso, a northern town also experienced quakes since Monday, October 6, authorities suspended classes due to the tremors.

Iloilo City felt Intensity II, while Bago City recorded Intensity I. The state seismologist also warned that aftershocks could occur.*
