Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte expressed confidence that Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal team is fully prepared to defend her against the ongoing impeachment case.
He described the vice president’s defense team as a “legal powerhouse” ready to face the impeachment trial.
The legal team includes former President Rodrigo Duterte, the vice president’s father; Lucas Carpio Jr., her father-in-law; Philip Sigfrid Fortun, founding partner of Fortun, Narvasa, and Salazar Law Firm; and Sheila Sison, a partner at the same firm.
Last week, Vice President Duterte filed a Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition before the Supreme Court (SC), challenging the validity and constitutionality of the fourth impeachment complaint against her.
Currently, the Senate is set to convene as an impeachment court, with its members deciding whether the vice president should be removed from office.
