LPG explosion inside bar in Davao injures 6 people

A powerful LPG explosion injured six workers in Davao City on January 31, 2025, after a leak in an 11kg LPG tank caused a fire at a local establishment. The incident occurred around 10:21 p.m. in a kitchen area, igniting when fumes from the leaking tank reached an electric fryer.

The explosion caused extensive damage, destroying numerous items and structures within the restaurant. The blast resulted in an estimated ₱360,000 in damages, with about 30 square meters of the building severely impacted by the fire.

The six injured workers were inside the kitchen at the time of the explosion. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the Lanang Fire Station declared the fire out by 10:46 p.m. The Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD) confirmed the area was free from additional explosive threats.

Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the incident, and the establishment is now being reviewed for possible safety violations.
