Young mother found dead in garbage bag in Davao City

A young single mother was found lifeless inside a garbage bag in Barangay Tugbok Proper, Davao City, on the morning of February 1.

Authorities identified the victim as April Mae Vizconde, 21, a resident of Small Tacunan, Barangay Tacunan.

According to an interview with Brigada Davao, the victim’s mother, Sherly Malto, said her daughter left their home around 3 p.m. on Saturday. Vizconde reportedly left her phone behind, leading Malto to believe she had been picked up by someone she planned to meet. However, she never returned.

Overcome with grief and anger, Malto condemned the brutal killing, emphasizing that her daughter left behind a two-year-old child who keeps looking for her.

Police confirmed that Vizconde suffered two stab wounds to the chest. Her body has been sent for autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities continue to search for leads to identify the suspect and bring justice to the victim.
