The Department of Justice (DOJ) has denied having any plans to label Vice President Sara Duterte as a terrorist, contradicting her recent claims.
VP Duterte accused the Marcos administration of following a “playbook” similar to the one used against former Congressman Arnie Teves, who was designated as a terrorist. She alleged that she might be the next target.
Justice Secretary Jesse Andres refuted these claims, stating that “there’s no such plan.” He added that VP Duterte appears to be preempting the government’s actions.
The controversy arose after a subpoena was issued to VP Duterte, which included potential charges of grave threats and possible violations of the Anti-Terrorism Law—a law enacted during her father’s presidency.
The DOJ has assured the public that due process will be observed in handling the issues involving the Vice President.
