Woman fatally stabbed by partner after argument over alcohol

A domestic dispute turned deadly when a woman was stabbed by her partner in Brgy. Buena Gracia, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.

The victim, identified as Sweetie Morgadez, had gone to fetch her partner, Arjames Cerna Layola, 23, from a drinking session. Morgadez reportedly urged Layola to stop buying alcohol and return home. Instead of complying, Layola became enraged and fatally stabbed her in the abdomen with a knife measuring over a handspan.

Morgadez was rushed to Talacogon District Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Layola, a barber, was apprehended in a hot pursuit operation and now faces homicide charges. Authorities reported that he expressed remorse for killing his partner.

The couple leaves behind a young child now under the care of the victim’s family. The incident has shocked the community and highlighted concerns about domestic violence and alcohol-related disputes.
